Welcome

A-MAJOR-KNITWORK is a major yarn shop for all your knitting and crocheting needs.  The shop sells the latest high-fashion yarns alongside high-quality basic yarns, and offers a large selection of needles, accessories, books, leaflets, and buttons.  The owners offer custom charting services and technical help.
WIFI is available.  Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and join our Ravelry Group.

The shop is a perfect spot in the heart of the San Fernando Valley where a skein of yarn becomes a-major-knit wearable, snuggable, or giftable.

We are grateful that you continue to support our local yarn shop. We don't just sell materials. We're also here with instruction, technical support, and friendship. Studies have shown that knitting and crocheting are good for your mental health, so we provide excellent therapy too!

We're located near Lake Balboa Birmingham High School on the SE corner of Balboa and Vanowen in a strip shopping center behind the Jack-in-the-Box. There is plenty of parking and easy freeway access to both the Ventura (101) and San Diego (405) freeways.

LEARN TO KNIT SOCKS WITH MINDY

Let's start with socks.
The 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month: 1PM - 3PM or 4:30PM - 6:30PM

January - February sock:
Rye
socks are perfect for new sock knitters because of the heavier yarn and classic construction.
Rye Light
is a basic sock in fingering weight yarn.
Both patterns are sized for the whole family.

This is a traditional sock - a top down sock with a flap and turn heel - loads of basic beginner techniques to learn.
Cost: $60.00 for 2 hours of instructions
Yarn must be purchased at the shop.

The first hour covers everything you need to get started.
The second hour is additional instruction for those who are ready to move to the next step of the pattern. We offer flexible scheduling for second hour.
Pay for the whole class now, and schedule the second Thursday hour when you are ready for the next step.

Each month Mindy will start a new class. Each sock pattern is chosen to teach new sock-making techniques.
Join us each month, or create your own adventure. Mindy will design a class with your requests.
Call us for more information.

CABLE CLASS

KNITTING CABLES CLASS WITH KIM

Once you can knit and purl, you will love using these skills to combine knits and purls to make a braid. Cables are everywhere in fashions and home accessories.

We will be working on small projects that show off this technique and can be completed in a weekend – headbands, coasters, and cell phone covers. These small projects will make great holiday gifts.

We just love
Knit Alongs and Crochet Alongs

There's always something new to learn from the designers and each other. Won't you join us? We update our latest projects on Ravelry.
